What goes around, comes around

Alright, it’s – unfortunately – not posted on my anniversary of the trip and also I went home a bit earlier than expected. However, a couple of weeks later I left again so I count this extra holiday as part of the whole trip.
As I did already after six months I wanted to give another review for the second half of my one year “off”. It was partly great, partly awesome, partly horrible, partly sad, partly … everything.

Here’s to another great half year.

– saw an Albino (not sure if I should mention this but meh)
– lived with a guy that I didn’t know
– flew 13 times
– slept in 4 airports

– got 2 more tattoos
– smashed a piñata on Christmas
– forgot to go to watch the fireworks on New Year’s Eve
– found out that Guatemala bitches are fucked. seriously
– bought stuff in a second hand shop. but shit, it was 99 cents
– felt for the first time an earthquake
– had my head shaved completely
– saw an volcano erupt
– was at the world’s fanciest McDonald’s
– ate haggis and I liked it
– saw Maria again
– saw Sonya again
– saw Michal again
– saw Andreas again
– saw Anthony again
– saw Mr White again
– saw Ethan again
– saw Martin again
– saw Carlie again
– saw Sabrina again
– saw Scott again
– saw Franziska again
– saw Marie again
– saw Marta again
– saw Ivan again
– saw my old Spanish teacher again
– had the deepest conversation in my life for 5 hours until I learned that guys name (Elvis)
– wrote a total of 4 notebooks (the whole trip)
– stayed at a place with more dogs than people
– ate the best burger in the world
– met a girl who only doesn’t have a dog because she has a boyfriend – dump that fucking cock blocker I’d say
– swam in a lagoon with alligators
– spend literally one day just in a hammock
– didn’t really sleep for over 80 hours
– and slept a total of 15 hours afterwards
– had a “perfect” massage, whatever that means
– saw a stewardess with a butt so big it barely fitted through the aisle
– slept on EVERY flight I took so far
– bought “jeans condoms” … what?
– started to like JBiebs and I don’t care
– lost a total of 20 kg (44 lbs)
– went four times to the movies
– went to 2 concerts (Against the Current, Ill Niño) the third one is coming soon
– wore a kilt with nothing underneath – best feeling in the world
– climbed a snowy mountain and almost died
– started to smoke … again. I know. I’m sorry
– but stopped smoking again. This time for ever
– drank real Scottish whisky
– started to meditate
– started to do yoga
– and continued with both
– lived vegetarian for a while
– increased my chili tolerance
– starred in a very, very short movie
– wrote another short story (three in total)
– juggled, hula-hooped, slack-lined
– took around 6000 pictures
– learned to forgive
– first time I didn’t travel all by myself
– got a total of 5 new phone numbers (gotta get ’em all)
– rode the train across Morocco
– answered the 36 questions
– rode a camel
– slept one night in the dessert
– ran up a dune just to see a shitty sunset – totally worth it
– came back to my all-time favorite place in the world VALENCIA
– got the probably worst sunburn in my life
and eventually
– found a new job in Barcelona

I’m afraid that’s about it for the second half of my journey. I talked with some poeps about but it’s that after a while I just stopped appreciate seeing all the things, visiting all the places, heck, sometimes I even stopped talking to people because I just didn’t want to anymore. Even though I enjoyed the whole trip but as some people in the last few weeks saw I was over traveled. Is that a thing? Well, it was for me. I also really enjoyed it to play with my dog, talk to my friends and family in person and, of course, eat proper bread. Even though it only held for a short time.

Now I live in Barcelona. Once again I’m sorry that I couldn’t say goodbye to everyone in person before moving but life goes on.
As Brock Thoene once said:

“It always is harder to be left behind than to be the one to go…”
